2008/2009 Instructors

Dorothy - has owned and operated Ballet Westside for 22 years. She is originally from Joplin, Missouri, where she studied dance for 15 years. She was principal dancer for the Joplin Dance Company and won numerous awards for talent. She holds 5 grades in Cecchetti training as a student and her Associate III level in teaching. She is a past member of the Cecchetti Council of America and regularly attends classes at Dance Olympus and other dance seminars to further her training and teaching abilities. She is a consultant to Disneyland and Disney Special Events of Anaheim California. Her students have won top awards at dance competitions held in Kansas City, Tulsa, Branson, and Little Rock.

Meghan Brace - holds a B.A. in Dance from the University of Nevada Las Vegas. As a member of the UNLV dance department she trained and preformed under choreographers such as Randy Duncan and Luis Kavorous. She was also a member of the Rebel Girls Dance Team for three years and a director of the Mini and Junior Rebel Starz. Prior to her colligate career she was a student at Ballet Westside for 15 years and was also a member of the Senior Performing Company. As a student she preformed in many competitions such as Star Struck and Dance America and she toured as a VIP with Dance Olympus under the instruction of Sarah Jo Fazio and Steven Boyd. She also has performed at Walt Disney World Resort, aboard Premiere Cruise Line’s S.S. Oceanic and locally with dancers from Disney Special Events. She has won many awards for her performances, both as a soloist and group dancer in competitions in cities such as Kansas City, Tulsa and Branson. Her choreography has taken top awards at local, regional and national levels, most recently in Hot Springs, AR.

Devon Rooney - 23, started dancing at the age of four and studied many different types of dance under several teachers at studios in Arkansas and Indiana.  As a member of the senior performing company at Ballet Westside, she received many awards and she also danced with the Rogers High School dance team.  She has four years experience teaching dance to local children. Devon is a recent business graduate from the University of Arkansas. Devon will be teaching children’s classes.

Julie Hales - danced at Ballet Westside for ten years and was a member of the Senior Performing Company where she won several awards in competition. Julie was a member of the Sugar Bears at Southwest Missouri State University for three years. With the Sugar Bears she danced in Spain and placed third at UDA nationals. Julie has also coached high school pom squads in Springfield, MO. She will be teaching children’s classes.

Brittani Mayhall - a Senior at Rogers High School. She has danced at Ballet Westside for 15 years and has been a member of the performing company for 9. Brittani has been selected as a Dance Olympus Junior National Finalist and has most recently been selected as a Dance Olympus VIP for 2007. She has trained formally in classical ballet, danced with the Moscow Ballet Company, and has trained and performed with the New York City Rockettes. She has been a member of her school cheerleading squad for four years. She was recently selected for the RHS Varsity cheer squad. Brittani has also done theater work with the Rogers Little Theater and the Arts Center of the Ozarks.

Arissa Griffin - is a senior at Bentonville High School. She is a member of the Varsity Dance team and the set choreographer for the Varsity and Junior Varsity Dance teams. Arissa has been a member of the Ballet Westside Performing Company for ten years. She toured as a V.I.P. dancer for Dance Olympus under the instructions of Jessica Etzel and Kirby Reid. She has won numerous 1st place awards at regional and national level competitions and has performed at Walt Disney World Resort and in Las Vegas and New York with the Dance Olympus Dancer of the Year Program. Arissa has been a Dancer of the Year semi-finalist for the past four years. She is currently Miss Arkansas Valley and plans to compete next year for Miss Arkansas 2009.

Kelly Johnson - is a senior at Rogers High School. She has been a meber of Ballet Westside for five years, and a member of the performing company for four years. She is currently a member of the Varsity Pom Squad at Rogers. Kelly will be teaching children’s classes.
